From September 2022 to April 2025, city2science has been supporting the Science Vision Concept in Wolfsburg in collaboration with Büro Heinze und Partner and Dr. Iris Klaßen.
Wolfsburg’s labour market is undergoing a profound transformation. Around 72 percent of employees work in knowledge-intensive industries — and the trend is rising. The density of academics in STEM professions in Wolfsburg is among the highest in Germany. The Science Vision Concept aims to identify and develop opportunities for cooperation between the city and the scientific community in order to strengthen Wolfsburg’s profile as a hub for knowledge and research, and to create an attractive environment for studying and working.

The process behind the Science Vision Concept Wolfsburg was designed to be participatory. Between May 2023 and April 2025, six dialogue modules were planned to involve representatives from higher education, business, city administration, culture, and civil society in developing concrete goals and action areas for the Science Vision Concept, as well as in shaping specific project ideas and initiatives.
