We are delighted to invite students & early-career researchers to apply for the 3rd SciCultureD course in Malta between 15-19 April 2024. SciCultureD is an Erasmus+ project promoting transdisciplinary, empowerment, and collaborative learning as a way to tackle ‘wicked’ and pressing problems in our society.

Design Thinking Meets Science Meets a Spirit of Experimentation

SciCultureD goal is to empower learners and help them employ science, arts, and entrepreneurship in a co-creative way to tackle societal challenges, especially those raised by the European Green Deal and/or the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Participants will be introduced to innovative methodologies such as design thinking and creative pedagogies and will be guided to reflect and share their thoughts about a particular societal challenge.

Valletta-Malta

Communities as Urban Change-Makers

The theme of the workshop in Malta is the role of communities in shaping just and green cities in urban contexts. In 2021, over 73% of the European population lived in a city. Many of these places are stressful, unsafe and polluted. Cities also offer unique opportunities as they are vibrant centres of communities. A place where people with different experiences, ideas and perspectives can work together to create innovative partnerships between entrepreneurs, public institutions and civil society. Cities are spaces that can open doors to explore, discover and test ways to a better and healthier life for the people who live in them.

SciCultureD will deliver an intensive 5-day-long course in Valletta, Malta between the 15th and 19th of April 2024 under the theme “How can communities become the co-creators of just and greener cities in the urban context?”. The participants will be immersed in a transdisciplinary experience – including co-creation and art-based workshops, field visits and meetings with local stakeholders, supported by in-house and international experts in arts, entrepreneurship, pedagogy, design thinking and science communication.
