Pictures are worth more than 1000 words! With this caleidoscope of activities we would like to thank all our partners for the successful collaborations in 2017! It was a swirling past year – with lots of new topics, partners and dialogue-oriented public engagement events. Enjoy a glimpse through our projects, and get back to us if you wish to find out more about our past and planned projects.

Our year started with the publication of the final report for the development process for a Knowledge and Innovation Campus in Herford. In 2015 we were invited to organize a stakeholder- and citizen-engagement process re-defining a former military area into a creative neighborhood of learning, business and creative economy. The results were presented in early 2016 – now the project is being realized with first students arriving in 2017.

Together with the city of Herford and Wissenschaft im Dialog we were invited to organise the European Student Parliament for the second time this February. Around 50 students from schools in Herford and beyond discussed central issues about the „Future of the Human Being“. In July, we accompanied five students to the European Finals in Manchester, UK, organized as part of the ESOF conference.

March was dominated by a major premiere: On behalf of the DASA Working World Exhibition we developed the programme of the first Maker Faire Ruhr, which took place 12 and 13 March 2016 at the DASA in Dortmund. After a successful premiere, we are currently preparing the programme for the second Maker Faire Ruhr on 25 and 26 March 2017.

Already in spring, we started the organisation of the programme for the ScienceNight Ruhr 2016 which took place in September with first planning sessions and training workshops for scientists. As in the years before we actively collaborated with the Ruhr Regional Association (RVR) to develop the programme of this great festival, in which over 400 scientists were actively involved.
With more than 11.000 visitors, the second ScienceNight Ruhr was a great success – a third WissensNacht Ruhr is already being prepared for 2018!

And then there were many other highlights: In September, CEO Annette Klinkert was announced Executive Director of the European Science Events Association (Eusea).  We relaunched our new website and got on board with the preparation for the Wissensgipfel Ruhr in February 2017 in Duisburg. In summer we started to draw a concept for a big event on economy and society for the RWI – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research and the German Economic Association, and we were commissioned to write an exposé for a large science festival at the University of Innsbruck in 2019.

A very exciting year is coming to an end – and we would like to thank all our partners and friends and look forward to working together in 2017!
